Pharmacological action:
Anti worm drugs. Levamisole is a broad-spectrum nematode repellent. Its mechanism of action is to excite the plant ganglion of sensitive nematode, cause the insect to be excited, paralyzed and excreted. At high concentrations, levamisole interfered with the glucose metabolism of nematodes by blocking the reduction of fumaric acid and the oxidation of succinate. Levamisole has good insecticidal activity against most of the gastrointestinal nematodes in cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs and chickens. It has good activity to most adult worms of gastrointestinal tract nematodes, but it has poor effect on immature worms, and has poor or uncertain effect on Strongyloides, Trichuris and Trichuris.
Indications:
It is used for gastrointestinal nematode, pulmonary filariasis and kidney worm disease in livestock and poultry.
Usage and dosage:
Oral administration:
1 kg body weight, 7.5 mg for cattle, sheep and pigs
10 mg for dogs and cattle
25 mg for poultry
